Their first product was an aluminum chimney cover manufactured in Mr. HiseyAs garage. In 1980 the company manufactured its first assembled, black-painted, galvanized chimney cover. A few years later HY-C added the same covers made out of stainless steel. Hy-C has been the mark of quality since 1947.Mesh Size is Important: Localities such as California have building codes that call for specific mesh requirements on chimney caps which do not allow a 1/2" sphere to pass through the holes. Caps with Mesh measuring 5/8" from center to center are diamond in shape so won t let a 1/2" sphere through but still maintain clog resistance.
